A CLUB BUILT ON CULTURE
Chatswood Rugby Club has been a proud part of Sydney’s rugby landscape since 1912. Based at Beauchamp Park, in the heart of the lower North Shore, we compete in the NSW Suburban Rugby competition (Subbies) – Australia’s largest amateur rugby competition. Subbies is all about balancing competitive rugby with real life, and that’s exactly what Chatswood Rugby represents.
We’re a club that values mateship, inclusion, and enjoyment just as much as the on-field performance. Whether you’re looking to play hard rugby without the pressure of elite-level commitment, or just want to train once a week, have a run, and enjoy a BBQ with good blokes, this is your club.
To ensure a smooth fit with your personal commitments, such as work or university, training is held once a week on Thursday nights, with a free BBQ after every session. We play our matches during the season on Saturdays.

Our home ground and clubhouse are located at Beauchamp Park, where we’ve built a strong community on and off the field.
Whether you’re 18 or 38, returning to rugby or giving it a go for the first time, Chatswood Rugby is the place to play for the love of the game – with a team that feels like family.
We currently field both Senior and Colts (u21) teams, welcoming players of all levels and experience.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When and where is training?
Training takes place every Thursday evening during the season at Beauchamp Park, Nicholson St, Chatswood. Sessions start at 6:30pm sharp, so aim to arrive a bit earlier to be ready to go.
What happens after training?
Each Thursday session finishes with a free BBQ and beers, a key part of the club’s social culture and a great time to catch up with teammates.
Do I need to attend training to play?
Yes. Thursday training is required to be eligible for weekend selection. If you can’t make it, you can let the coaching team know via WhatsApp as soon as possible.
How do I confirm my availability?
Updating your availability is the most important part of off-field duties and directly impacts selection. An availability email and text will be sent every Sunday afternoon. Players should confirm their training and match availability before Thursday training.
When do I need to arrive for games?
All players must arrive at the ground at least 60 minutes before kick-off for warm-up, prep, and team chat OR arrive for the previous team's kickoff. Players are also required to stay and support the club if there is another game afterwards.
Where are matches played?
Games are played across Sydney as part of the Suburban Rugby competition. Players are expected to make their own way, but carpooling is common and encouraged.
What gear do I need?
Once registered, players receive a club kit: team shorts, socks, training jersey, and polo. You’ll need to bring your own boots, mouthguard, and any extra gear (e.g., headgear).
Is there medical support on game day?
Yes, a qualified physio is at every game to assist with strapping and injuries.
